Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Policies

Invoices are billed on the Friday of the week services were completed.  Charges are automatically applied with the card information on file

New Client Setup
A consultation with a manager is required prior to starting services. The consult is an opportunity for us to meet your dog and develop his or her routine. Also, please click the “Create Account” button at the top of the screen to create a client portal for you to manage your account, your dog’s information, and to view the calendar.

Please have two copies of your house key and a copy of your dog’s vaccination records for us, and allow 20-30 minutes for the meeting.

Scheduling of Service
To schedule walks please use our Time-to-Pet software by 9 PM the day before the desired visit.  If you need a last-minute walk (scheduled the day of), a $5 same day request charge will be added to the normal charge for the visit.

At a minimum, please cancel by 9 PM the night before the scheduled walk.  Any walk canceled the day of will be charged the full visit fee.

Key Policy
District Dogs requires two sets of keys from each of our clients.  Your regular sitter will have a set of keys to use on a daily basis and we will retain another set of keys in our office for emergency or backup sitter situations.

If you are only able to provide one set of keys (due to limited security keys, electronic key, etc) then last minute walks and walks outside your set schedule may need to be declined.

If you do not have a second set of keys and copies can be made, District Dogs will create the keys and bill you on the following invoice.

Time of Arrival
We cannot guarantee an exact time of arrival but we do try to get as close as the time you request as possible.  Please note, the time may fluctuate due to inclement weather, the specific route that day, or other factors.

Business Hours
Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday, from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm. We do operate outside of these business hours for an additional charge.  Please let us know as early as possible to see if we can accommodate.

Service Area
We currently operate in the neighborhoods of Logan Circle, Shaw, Bloomingdale, U Street, Columbia Heights, Park View, Mount Pleasant, Petworth, and Pleasant Plains. If your neighborhood is not listed, please contact us to see if we can accommodate your needs.

Inclement Weather Policy
Whether it’s a blizzard outside or scorching hot, District Dogs may adjust the walks and routes based on current conditions.  On days with extreme heat/rain/cold/ice/snow/etc the walks may be shortened to ensure the safety of our dogs and walkers.  However, due to the risks associated with walking dogs in extreme conditions, rates are not changed due to shortened walks.

In addition, District Dogs retains the right to cancel service due to inclement weather that we deem hazardous or dangerous up to the day of service. District Dogs will notify the clients as soon as possible for all cancellations.

Walker Substitutions and Cancellations
From time-to-time, your regular walker may be out of town or home sick.  When days like this occur one of our backup walkers will substitute for your regular walker. We will do our best to let you know when this happens but there may be situations when time does not allow this. On extremely rare cases walks may be canceled completely if we do not have a backup walker available and your regular walker called out sick unexpectedly.
